Sad Farewell
Banchory said goodbye to one of the best players to grace the Aberdeenshire Grades with Sajid Hasan flying back home to Pakistan. Not only will his cricketing ability be missed but his general all round character.
Sajid joined the club in 2007 from Portcullis as result of a bet with current Banchory member Wajahat Ali, the bet was whoever scored the most runs that season and the loser would have to join the winners respective club. Thankfully for Banchory Wajahat won the bet. Sajid's loss was certainly Banchory's gain, he went on to accumulate a mammoth 1806 runs in his 4 and a bit years at the club with his highest score 110 vs Mannofield, he also passed the half century mark on 12 occasions.
He could also bowl a bit too and took a total of 116 wickets, his most impressive displays were 8 for 34 against Caledonian and 6 for 10 against Kintore.
Sajid was made captain for the 2010 season and led Banchory to 4th in Grade 1, the team spirit and camaraderie was evident all season and the whole team thouroughly enjoyed playing for him. His 40 wickets and 551 runs saw him earn the accolade of Aberdeenshire Grades Player of the Year. A fitting end to a wonderful spell in Scottish Cricket.
Sajid will be sorely missed but never forgotten and we're hopeful he'll be back for a visit soon. Everyone at the club wishes him well on his return home.
Teaching The Game

Pro Coach Cricket Academy and Cricket Scotland have recently formed an official partnership to deliver high quality junior coaching courses throughout the year for young cricketers aged as young as 8. This partnership is an effort to allow as many young players to receive the opportunity to work with current Scotland Internationals, along with a range of English First Class Cricketers and Coaches.
